Verona Pentony - Poet and Author


Verona Pentony is a poet with a love of humanity and of nature. She was educated as a boarder in the Ursuline Convent, Sligo and later at Loretto Abbey, Rathfarnham. She experienced life on a farm from her childhood days in north Co. Dublin and from summer holidays in Leitrim. Verona's career as a Hotel Manager began with the Fitzpatrick Hotel Group, Ireland progressing to Executive Management within Sheraton Hotels and Marriott Hotels London, England and later returning to Enfield, Co Meath, Ireland. Verona changed her career in 2005 and is now Head of Governance and Social Responsibility for Momentum Support. Verona has an outgoing bubbly personality; she is a true people person at heart.

Reflections from the Heart is her first published collection of poetry. She wrote Love Me, For Me while on holiday in Los Suenos, Costa Rica. Footsteps on Sandpiper Beach was written in Stuart, Florida, USA and Grandfather Tree in the Phoenix Park, Dublin and others whilst in London. Her second published collection Reflections of Time , She wrote The Farmer in Ireland. It achieved second place out of 1000 entries at the 2015 Ireland National Ploughing Championships and Santa Eulalia Shoreline when in Albufeira, Portugal.

She is inspired by nature, spirituality, political events and the experiences of life – her own and other peoples'. She believes we can all play a part to promote World Peace through forgiveness. Verona has visited and participated in some way at many literary festivals throughout Ireland including the Swift Satire, Trim, the Kells Hay Festival and the Bailieborough and Listowel Writers Weeks. Verona has a passion for reading her own work. In 2013 Verona was privileged to read for the Meath Writers' Circle and became the secretary. Proud of the successful launch of two publication for the Meath Writers' Circle in 2013 "A Gathering of Poetry & Prose" and in 2016 "A Centenary of Poetry & Prose.
